(i)  Side Guards must be within the vehicle’s width and not more than 30mm inboard at any part.

(ii)  At the rear, on all vehicle types, they must extend to within 300mm of the nearest part of the nearest tyre.

(iii)  At the Front they must be within 300mm of the nearest part of the nearest tyre on a motor vehicle and within 500mm of the nearest part of the nearest tyre on a draw bar trailer.

(iv)  For semi-trailers, at the front they must be within three metres of the nearest part of the nearmost tyre of the trailer unit, but if the vehicle has landing legs with centres not more than 2.75 metres from the king pin (or rearmost king pin if there are more than one). The front end must be within 250mm from the centre line of the landing legs.

(v)  For cases not covered by (iii) and (iv) above the front end must be within three metres of the king pin (or rearmost king pin if there are more than one).

(vi)  The bottom edge must be within 550mm of ground level and the gap between the top edge and the bottom edge of the body must not exceed 350mm.

(vii)  Any edges must be rounded to a radius of at least 2.5mm. No gap must have a vertical measurement exceeding 300mm and any surrounds for such gaps must have a minimum dimension of 100mm in width.

(viii)  A sideguard must be capable of withstanding a force of 2 kilonewtons applied perpendicular to any part of its surface by a ram (with a circular face which is not more than 220mm in diameter) without being deflected by more than 150mm or more than 30mm within 250mm of its rear-most end.

This alloy side guard system is specifically designed and manufactured to meet EEC legislation, whilst at the same time it is easy to assemble and under normal circumstances will remain maintenance free.

N.B. NEW REGULATIONS 105B REQUIRE THAT ALL SIDE GUARDS MUST BE MAINTAINED FREE FROM ANY DEFECTS LIKELY TO ADVERSELY AFFECT THEIR PERFORMANCE.

In the event of accidental damage to any part of the side guard structure you simply release the fixing bolts, drill out rivets and replace the damaged part.

Being constructed from alloy it is approximately 50% lighter than steel side guard systems, which in turn allows greater payloads and therefore higher profits.

Double rail kits are suitable for trailers not exceeding 1400mm from the undersurface of the side rave to the ground. This is when the trailer is detached from the tractor and three-quarters loaded in the horizontal mode.

For other trailers, please consult before ordering.

Measure the distance between the front face of the front trailer tyre and the centre line of the jacking leg, then deduct 550mm to determine the length of kit required. Allow for tyre wear.

Single rail kits are suitable for vehicles not exceeding 950mm from the undersurface of the side rave to the ground.

Double rail kits are suitable for vehicles not exceeding 1400mm from the undersurface of the side rave to the ground.

Measure the distance from the back face of the front tyre to the front face of the first rear tyre, then deduct 600mm to determine the length of kit required. Allow for tyre wear.
